CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job site, has been awarded the prestigious Gold accolade for ‘Public Relations Achievement of the Year’ at the international 2016 Golden Bridge Awards. The coveted annual Golden Bridge Awards programme encompasses the world’s best in public relations and celebrates CV-Library’s insightful quality content and the authoritative data published by the organisation in its first 12 months of PR activity.

The global award, which included other big brand name winners such as Thomson Reuters, Cisco, Bloomberg and American Express, recognises the achievements of CV-Library’s in-house PR and communications team, who proactively tap into the organisations multi-million candidate database and job-related data. The team ensure that the business can provide comment and insight on key trending topics, such as the recent ‘Brexit’, whilst also generating quarterly job market reports that are often used as a key resource by the media.

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, comments on the win:

“I’m really proud of the PR and Communications team here at CV-Library and the award win is indicative of their hard work and dedication to the business. Over the past year, they have worked tirelessly to ensure that we effectively report back to the recruitment industry on key employment and careers trends and we have big ambitions for taking this even further throughout the year ahead.”

The team is led by PR & Communications Manager, Michelle Smithson, who has over 10 years’ experience working in B2B PR amongst national and international brands. Michelle works with her team to ensure that CV-Library is producing excellent content based on the job-site’s own data, which the recruitment industry can draw upon as a reliable source of information.

Michelle and her team were tasked with building a brand profile across UK media, and positioning Lee Biggins and his business as a go-to resource for data and expert knowledge on all job, recruitment, employment, business, career and workplace topics. As a result, Lee himself is a regular commentator to the media, sharing his expertise with recruiters, job hunters and business owners alike.

Michelle Smithson, PR & Communications Manager at CV-Library, adds:

“Building the brand’s perception and profile has been an exciting challenge for us and we’re delighted with the results. This last year has provided us with an effective platform to take our PR activity even further, especially with our global expansion already happening in the U.S. 2016 is already a massive success and we are working alongside our other in-house marketing teams to develop exciting campaigns and to continue to reach out to the recruitment industry in the most innovative ways.”

The PR & Communications team also consistently conduct attention-grabbing research amongst CV-Library’s 10.4 million-strong candidate database to accurately share employee insights, revealing what job hunters want from recruiters and what the nation’s workers need from their employers.

CV-Library is one of the UK’s largest online job sites, with the UK’s biggest database of over 10.3m CVs. The company was founded in 2000 as a response to Lee’s identification of a market niche. As a young carpet fitter at the time struggling to find work, Lee saw a need for an easy-to-use job board benefiting both job hunters and recruiters. With a £9k loan and help from a web developer, the CV-Library website was built. Lee’s raw passion and hands-on marketing strategies lifted the business off the ground and it is this that continues to push his company to new heights.

The business is now one of the fastest growing websites in the country. The team is expanding rapidly, now employing over 140 staff. It has also launched sister website, Resume Library, in the US, where the company is set to expand and take the brand global over the coming years. Lee puts the reason for his success down to working incredibly hard, loving what he does and a strong desire to make the business the best it can be.

Lee has received over 50 awards and accolades to date and was last year recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year. In April 2015 CV-Library was also ranked as number 49 in the Sunday Times Profit Track 100.
