ICAEW Approved as an Apprentice Assessment Organisation

The trailblazer apprenticeship is an entry-level route in to accountancy. This route in to the profession is aimed at school-leavers who are looking at alternative routes to university, as well as graduates from all disciplines and professionals who are looking for the opportunity to change career and re-train.

As an assessment organisation, ICAEW will deliver the End Point Assessments (EPAs) for the trailblazer apprenticeship which will allow apprentices to demonstrate their competence. Apprentices will also be able to gain the ICAEW CFAB qualification and enhance their technical knowledge, alongside the skills that they will gain through their work experience.

Mark Protherough, Executive Director for Learning and Professional Development said:

“I am thrilled that our expertise in delivering similar assessments for our qualifications has been recognised and ICAEW is now an approved assessment organisation. ICAEW has worked closely with employers and other stakeholder to develop a qualification that not only meets the government’s requirements, but also upholds the quality we apply to all of our existing qualifications.

“ICAEW’s trailblazer apprenticeships are an opportunity for apprentices combine competence in both knowledge and the skills and behaviours required to work in a firm or business. I am delighted that as an assessment organisation we can ensure apprentices are equipped with the skills and experience the accounting profession needs today and in the future.”

The first assessments will take place in December 2017.
