The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has appointed Julie Bowen as its new Head of Professional Development.

Bowen previously held the role of Member Services Manager at APSCo. She has over 25 years’ experience in human resources and training and development, most recently as Head of Talent Development at Adecco Group before joining APSCo in 2014.

She will take the reins from Fiona Lander, who has successfully grown and developed the APSCo PD brand during her three years at the helm. Lander will continue to work with APSCo in a consultative capacity while focusing on her own international talent development company, Lander Consultancy.

Reflecting on her success at APSCo PD, Lander comments:

“The success of APSCo PD in recent years speaks for itself. Last year alone, we welcomed over 1,000 delegates to 163 training courses and thanks to our fantastic team we are now in the enviable position of having accomplished everything that we set out to achieve when I came on board in 2013. Now it’s time for me to enjoy a change of pace and concentrate on other aspects of my consultancy business. Julie’s strong background in T&D makes her perfectly placed to consolidate and grow APSCo’s PD arm, both from a logistical management perspective, and in terms of injecting fresh ideas. I wish her the best of luck and every success in her new role. Being part of the wider APSCo team has been a fantastic experience.”

Commenting on her new role, Bowen said:

“I am incredibly excited to be taking the lead in managing and further developing APSCo’s PD offering. This is a perfect opportunity for me to exercise my passion for T&D and to share my wealth of sector-specific experience. Here at APSCo we have some of the most experienced, dynamic and successful specialist trainers from the worlds of recruitment, sales and leadership at our disposal. Building on Fiona’s strong foundations, we will continue to offer professional recruiters at every stage of their career the opportunity to take their skills to the next level – to the benefit of not only their own businesses, but also the wider recruitment profession.”

Ann Swain, CEO at APSCo, commented:

“The future of the professional recruitment sector relies on the ability of its own talent. Training and development lies at the very core of every organisations’ success, which is why I am incredibly proud of the breath, diversity and indeed volume of training opportunities that APSCo now offers its members.”

“I’d like to thank Fiona for the incredible job she has done in creating and directing our training programme over the past three years. Feedback from delegates has been overwhelmingly positive and I have no doubt that the impact of her knowledge, expertise, and tenacity will continue to be felt by recruitment firms which have invested in APSCo PD for some time to come!”

“As former Head of Talent Development at Adecco, Julie is the perfect candidate to lead APSCo PD on the next stage of its journey. As demand for training continues to grow, I have no doubt that her previous experience in this area, coupled with her existing relationships with members, will be a huge asset to the APSCo team.”
