SAFERjobs (www.safer-jobs.com) was founded in 2008 by the Metropolitan Police as part of their business crime initiative. It has since grown to advise 1m job seekers per year and receives reports totalling almost £500K per year. SAFERjobs is a voluntary, non-profit organisation tackling the growing problem of job scams and recruitment fraud. SAFERjobs works closely with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Action Fraud, Trading Standards, Crimestoppers, and the recruitment industry. The free Safer Job Search service is designed to give confidence to job seekers that finding a job in the UK is a safe thing to do, and thereby showing the recruitment sector as a responsible, secure place to do business.
As well as Chair of SAFERjobs, Keith Rosser is the Head of Screening & Compliance Services for Reed having founded Reed Screening in 2011, the fastest growing pre-employment vetting business in the UK. He is also responsible for all aspects of compliance across the Reed group. Keith is the Board Member and Treasurer of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) which is the trade association for the pre-employment vetting industry (www.napbs.com) alongside colleagues from Experian, Security Watchdog, and Risk Advisory Group. He also sits on ECHO (Employers Co-operating with the Home Office which is a sub-group of the prime minister’s tackling illegal working forum), and Chairs Compliance+, the recruitment company audit programme delivered by APSCo.
