Birmingham Based Professional Sports Coach Secures Investment from James Caan CBE

Williams Munroe officially launched their boutique accountancy employment brand, business and website today, following investment from one of the UK’s most well-respected recruitment industry investors and mentors, Recruitment Entrepreneur.

Placing professionals in accountancy, Founding Director of Williams Munroe, Phil Evans, said,

“Before getting into recruitment, I worked in professional sport, first as a rugby coach and then later in performance consultancy. After being fortunate enough to learn from world class athletes and World Cup winning coaches, I developed my business philosophy of enhancing processes and performance”.

Recruitment Entrepreneur Founder and Chairman, James Caan, commented on the launch,

“It’s rare to meet someone with such a detailed approach to placing talent. The level of consultancy and post-placement support Phil and his team provide to guide their client and candidates’ decisions is unique.  They’re not afraid to say no and challenge the status quo. Having them join the portfolio is an exciting prospect, and one which I believe will bring progressive insights and drive transformation in the accountancy space”.

Headquartered in Birmingham’s bustling Brindley Place the business is well placed for growth. According to the Centre of Entrepreneurs, 12,108 businesses were started in Birmingham last year, which is more than in any city outside London. It’s also one of the fastest growing UK city centres with the second most diverse in the country, after London. This reflects well for the future of companies starting out or relocating, particularly when recruiting skilled staff is a recognised challenge.

In addition to this, Birmingham resides at the regional heart of employment with a working population of almost half a million people. Its reputation is growing as a desirable location for global business and ranks highly for future investability. The economy is performing well and Birmingham’s geographical location, situated within four hours travel time of 90% of the UK, has clear advantages.

As part of the Recruitment Entrepreneur portfolio, Williams Munroe will have access to infrastructure, investment and operational support from the wider group. Welcoming them into the portfolio, Group CEO, Abid Hamid, said, “Phil’s background and outlook on building high-performance teams gives the business a considerable competitive edge. Williams Munroe is an excellent addition to the portfolio and we’re looking forward to working with them closely to drive their plans for growth, which we are well positioned to facilitate”.

The announcement also marks the launch of their new brand and website About which Phil said, “Creating a strong brand with a real story to tell has been important to us. I’m excited we’ve built an effective platform that’s capable of communicating our belief that recruitment can be done better, and one that supports us in delivering our brand values of empathy, integrity and resilience. We’re looking forward to scaling the business to be the premium accountancy recruitment business and employer of choice”.
