Mott MacDonald, the global engineering, management and development consultancy, has selected talent technology company Capp to provide an early stage talent development programme for its graduates and apprentices. Around 1000 people across the UK will go through the strengths-based programme over the next three years.

Mott MacDonald is already using Capp’s award-winning assessment solutions to select the best graduates for its 2019 intake. By measuring what matters to the organisation and selecting based on strengths – which Capp defines as ‘something you do regularly, that you do well, and energises you when doing it’ – the assessment programme is helping Mott MacDonald recruit 280 graduates this summer.

The new talent development programme will harness data generated by the recruitment process to create a bespoke experience featuring virtual reality coaching labs, omni-channel learning modules and strengths-based coaching. This will help recruits develop the skills they need to progress within the organisation.

“Since moving to a strengths-based assessment solution we have been able to improve the candidate recruitment journey, providing them with a quicker assessment and individual feedback report,” said Melissa Hopper, Early Careers Talent Acquisition Manager at Mott MacDonald. “Our most important goal is to provide candidates with an engaging and exciting experience throughout the recruitment process, which also enables us to recruit the best talent for our business. Capp has been instrumental in making this a reality.”

Paul Dilley, Early Careers Learning & Development Manager at Mott MacDonald, added:

“We are excited to be extending our partnership with Capp. By developing a programme which follows the strengths journey our early careers population goes on, and utilising some innovative approaches to development, we can help individuals to reach their potential and develop the skills required to flourish in our business.”

Stephanie Hopper, Director of Development Solutions at Capp, added:

“Creating a strengths-based development programme with Mott MacDonald was a natural progression for our partnership. We gained a deep understanding of their business and talent objectives as part of our graduate selection project. We will now be leveraging the insights generated by that process to design a tailored, data-driven development programme. This approach will ensure that apprentices and graduates are able to deliver increased value to the business and thrive professionally. It is an excellent example of how strengths can be used to optimise both candidate selection and in-role performance.”
