The UK’s leading independent job site, CV-Library, has been named a UK National Champion in The RSM Entrepreneur of the Year Award category at The European Business Awards; Europe’s largest business competition set up to celebrate business excellence and best practice in the European business community.

The Awards, now in its 10th year, is supported by business leaders, academics and political representatives from across Europe, and this year engaged with over 33,000 businesses from 34 countries. CV-Library has been chosen after the first phase of judging by an independent panel, having been evaluated on its innovation, ethics and success and will now go through to the second stage of the competition.

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library comments:

“We’re very proud to be selected to represent the United Kingdom as a National Champion. The European Business Awards is widely recognised as the showcase for Europe’s most dynamic companies and we are proud to be recognised at this level. It’s been an exciting year here at CV-Library and we are working hard to expand and develop every aspect of the business. As a result we have grown consistently by 40% or more year-on-year for the last three years, aiding our regional and international expansion.”

As a National Champion, CV-Library will go on to compete in the next phase of the competition, which will see the company submitting a presentation video, telling the organisation’s unique story and explaining the business’ success. The independent judges will award the best of this group the ‘Ruban d’Honneur’ status in The RSM Entrepreneur of the Year category and the selected companies will then go on to the Gala Final in 2017.

Separately, in a two stage public vote, the videos will be hosted on the European Business Awards website, and the company who receives the most votes in their country will become the ‘National Public Champion’.

Biggins continues:

“The next stage of events, where we’ll be judged on our video submission and public vote, should be particularly exciting and whatever the result is, I’m very proud that our organisation has come so far in these prestigious awards. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 12 months has in store for us, and awards like these continue to motivate me to take my business to new heights.”

The Awards’ core purpose is to support the development of a stronger and more successful business community throughout Europe.

CV-Library is one of the UK’s largest online job sites, with the UK’s biggest database of over 12m CVs. The company was founded in 2000 as a response to Lee’s identification of a market niche. As a young carpet fitter at the time struggling to find work, Lee saw a need for an easy-to-use job board benefiting both job hunters and recruiters. With a £9k loan and help from a web developer, the CV-Library website was built. Lee’s raw passion and hands-on marketing strategies lifted the business off the ground and it is this that continues to push his company to new heights.

The business is now one of the fastest growing websites in the country. The team is expanding rapidly, now employing over 200 staff. It has also launched sister website, Resume Library, in the US, where the company is set to expand and take the brand global over the coming years. Lee puts the reason for his success down to working incredibly hard, loving what he does and a strong desire to make the business the best it can be.

Lee has received over 50 awards and accolades to date and was last year recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year. In April 2015 CV-Library was also ranked as number 49 in the Sunday Times Profit Track 100.
