Facebook is challenging tech companies big and small to try and knock them off the podium at Kartfight, a unique team building and networking experience where companies take to the track to compete in high-powered go-karts.
Kartfight found in recent research that 1 in 5 employees agree that the opportunity to bond outside of work improves their working relationships. Additionally the study, which was commissioned by event partners TeamSport Indoor Karting, also found one in ten workers believed these events help to improve their communication skills with managers.
In 2015 Facebook was crowned champion but in 2016 over 100 companies from seven different industry sectors, including tech, will take part attempting to beat the social media giant for the top spot.
Connor Tracey, engineer at Facebook stated:
“We loved competing against the fastest tech teams in London, and can’t wait to defend our title again this year!”
The event brings companies and employees together, raising their profile between competitors with a healthy dose of competition.
Kartfight held its first event in 2015, which pitted tech giants against start-ups. Over the course of the evening 64 drivers and over 250 supporters participated in the event.
Every company can bring 20 fans to cheer on their four drivers. Each team will take turns in high-powered go-karts around one of Europe’s best indoor tracks in an attempt to be crowned the champion.
Will Tew, co-founder of Kartfight, said:
“In 2015 it was far beyond what you might consider a normal networking event, energy filled the venue and people really got involved. We can’t wait to see who will be able to challenge Facebook for the top spot on the podium in 2016.”
The event costs £1795 and will run from 12th-21st October 2016. Upgrades are available including custom race suits, helmets and t-shirts, which the companies will be able to keep.
