Who you know, rather than what you know, could have an even greater impact on your job prospects in future, according to the latest LinkedIn annual survey of global recruitment trends.
Social professional networks are the fastest growing source of talent in the world, with almost four in ten (37%) of the 3,300 respondents who have responsibility for appointing key talent saying that this method is one of the most important – up 11 percentage points on last year. Employee referral programmes and internal hires are also among the only top five methods seeing growth, albeit on a more modest scale.
The future of recruitment also still looks to be shifting online. As social professonal networks, aided by web platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook, have seen huge growth and poised to take the top spot from online recruitment boards, more traditional methods are still important, though have seen much smaller growth.
