Manufacturing Tomorrow’s Talent – Apprenticeships Quadruple at CELSA Steel’s Cardiff Plant


CELSA Steel UK, the Cardiff based manufacturer, has announced a significantly expanded apprenticeship programme to train up the next generation of high-skilled manufacturing workers, and offer exciting career paths to local young people.

The significantly expanded programme will start the training of 33 apprentices this year at the East Moors Road plant, providing a route into skilled manufacturing jobs as well as a new range of office-based apprenticeships, at a time when there is a nationwide shortage of workforce talent.

CELSA’s apprenticeship programme began in 2005 and has proved hugely successful over the past 15 years, with the company investing significantly into developing the skills, knowledge base and high-value career opportunities available within the Welsh industrial community it serves.

To date more than 20 apprentices have benefited from CELSA’s dedicated four-year training programme, with many graduating in more highly paid permanent positions in the company.

Apprenticeship opportunities have traditionally been offered in Production, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Machining, Roll Turning and Quality Control roles – providing the strong, home-grown manufacturing workforce that has enabled CELSA to succeed in the global market place.

The expanded programme will now include office-based roles with specialisms such as IT, Logistics, Human Resources, and Digital Marketing and Design before the end of 2018.
