New Boutique Recruitment Business Launches Into 2020


A new Lancashire based recruitment agency, Higher People, have blasted into the New Year by launching this month. The agency aims to work with companies across Lancashire, supporting them with their recruitment needs, as well and assisting individuals who are looking for a career move.

The founder of the business, Martin Drake, has over 20 years’ experience across the recruitment industry. Having worked as a Business Manager for a large, global brand, and working with some of the UK’s biggest companies, he then moved into the HR profession, gaining his Level 7 CIPD qualification. One of the things that shocked Martin was how commonplace it was for recruitment agencies to not want to meet with him or spend time getting to know about him or his experience.

Unfortunately, having spoken to hundreds of people over the past few years Martin found it typical for a lot of recruitment businesses to not find it a criteria to meet the individuals they are putting forward to vacancies. With some agencies seeming very comfortable at having a quick five-minute conversation over the phone before then submitting a candidates CV.

Martin Drake commented:

“I returned to recruitment having been a jobseeker myself a few years ago. I was looking for a new HR role and became so disappointed with the level of service I was receiving from other agencies that I believed something needed to change and felt I could drive that change. My approach has always been to meet with each person and spend time trying to learn about them but also build a relationship. Higher People are also bucking the trend and offering all of their clients a market-leading 6 month, 100% rebate. This rebate clause is standard in most contracts with recruitment agencies and acts as an insurance policy to companies if the individual recruited leaves within a set period of time. The typical rebate provided is over twelve weeks with the amount the company can claim back reducing over that timeframe. Higher People are offering such an extended rebate to give confidence to their clients and trust in the service they provide.
