Nationwide payroll provider, RACS Group, is organising a series of free ‘Safeguarding Children in Education’ one day courses for teachers throughout 2016. The first event will be held in Birmingham at the Hotel La Tour on Saturday 5th March from 9.30am to 3.30pm. There are 90 free delegate places available, and lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day.
The CPD (Continuous Professional Development) events are organised in partnership with ACI Training & Consultancy Ltd, which provides innovative solutions for health and social care as well as the education sector. The training days are co-sponsored by CPD Safe, an online platform which allows teachers and employers to securely plan, manage and provide demonstrable evidence of their CPD.
RACS Group Marketing Director, Andrew Pinnell, explains the importance of the events:
“The Safeguarding Children in Education courses are vital for anyone working with children, particularly teachers. It enables delegates to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with a variety of safeguarding issues.
“RACS Group specialise in the education sector, so we welcome the opportunity to host these events for supply teachers, teaching assistants and education professionals. We organised two similar events last year, and they proved incredibly popular. We also recognise that supply teachers often struggle to finance their CPD training requirements, so it is a pleasure to organise this event. We also welcome the opportunity to work alongside ACI Training and CPD Safe to provide teachers with 5 CPD points.”
The comprehensive training covers: the benefits of the course to teachers; a recap of child protection law and the Children Act 1989 and 2004; definitions of child abuse and the general signs to watch out for; parenting risk factors associated with abuse; the law for professionals reporting abuse; confidentiality and information sharing; child protection procedures; recording; making a referral; medical examination, and useful insight into what may prevent children and young people from seeking help.
“As the leading payroll provider in the education sector, we recognise that adding value for our contractors develops relationships, builds loyalty and enhances careers,” concludes Andrew Pinnell. “We offer this CPD course, free, to supply teachers because we are different; we want to give back to teachers, and to stay ahead of the issues in the industry today.”
