Recruitment consultancy Robert Walters Group UK donated £25,428 this year towards their chosen charity – Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.
The bulk of the fundraising took place on the Group’s annual Charity Day, on Friday 11 October 2019 through an extraordinary display of initiative, athleticism and creativity by Robert Walters Group staff, across multiple sites throughout the UK.
Fundraising activities included scavenger hunts, pie in the face, chilli eating competition, and the company’s own version of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
There was also a special guest appearance by actor and presenter Christopher Biggins on the day, who hosted the raffle and high prize auction.
Robert Walters UK CEO, Chris Hickey comments:
“Given that the charity rely entirely on the community to raise funds, we’re extremely proud to have the opportunity to raise money for the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity and to help them continue to deliver such incredible support to children and their families.”
Resource Solutions CEO, Oliver Harris comments:
“Giving back is in our DNA. In its eighth year, our Global Charity Day is an international initiative allowing us as a business to band together globally to give back to local charities doing great work. I am hugely grateful to our employees, our clients and our supporters who help us make a difference year after year.”
This years’ Charity Day was particularly poignant as Principal at Robert Walters – Richard Johnson – has received ongoing support from the charity after first receiving a complex prognosis for his son of quad cerebral palsy, global development delay, infantile spasms (severe epilepsy) and cortical visual impairment (registered blind).
Pilar Cloud, Executive Manager at Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity comments:
“What the Robert Walters Global Charity Day on Friday, 11 October highlighted is how important our families’ employers are to them on this journey, and to us as a Charity.
“The team of employees at Robert Walters, Walters People and Resource Solutions brought a huge energy, creativity and fun to this Charity through their Global Charity Day; it was wonderful to see every single member of staff throughout all of their UK offices rolling up their sleeves and getting directly involved in fundraising through such a diverse range of activities.
“We are incredibly grateful to our parent and Robert Walters employee, Richard Johnson who campaigned to convince his colleagues to choose us as their charity this year, to our Patron, Christopher Biggins, and our Ambassador, D-Day Darling founder Katie Ashby, who came to help lend a hand on the day, and to everyone at Robert Walters Group for making such a huge difference to this small charity.
“The incredible amount of funds they raised on their Global Charity Day will help us to support even more children and families on their journeys.”
The Robert Walters Group Global Charity Day activities weren’t restricted to the UK, with fundraising efforts taking place in offices spread across 31 countries, raising a total of £141,989 for local charities and community projects across the globe.
Over the last eight years, the Robert Walters Group has raised £1million for causes globally.
