Temporary workers numbers remain static

The number of temporary workers in Germany has remained at a low level for the past five years, according to data from the Federal Employment Agency for temporary work. The proportion of temporary workers employed during the second quarter of 2008 averaged 1.9%. In the second quarter of 2013, the proportion was 2%. Two years ago, during Q2 2011, that figure was 2.2%.

The social security contributions for all social insurance agencies reported no specific increases or decreases.

Thomas Hetz, Chief Executive of the Federal Employers’ Association of Personnel Services (BAP), said: “It speaks for itself, there can be no question that increases in temporary work result in the displacement of permanent employees in companies.”
