All companies want to grow. However, the growth of a company largely depends on the efficiency of its employees. As a hiring manager, you have one priority: ensuring your staff’s well-being.

If you desire optimal performance, assigning a vast bulk of work to an individual and expecting them to perform your requests like robots, is not the solution. You cannot expect your employees to do a great job when their mental, physical, and financial state are not at their best.

1. Invest in Your Staff

Consider your employee’s life cycle. New employees must be trained and must be allowed to develop and put into practice their skills. Only then, they can be evaluated. Investing in your employees’ development is fundamental since it helps them integrate within the organisation and understand the company’s core values and mission. Facilitating their integration ultimately enables new employees to carry out the required activities in a manner in which they can excel.

2. Do Not Separate Work and Life

There needs to be a sense of involvement. Of course, some members of staff are more introverted than others. They may feel the need to be left to their own devices in order to get the job done successfully. And that’s fine.

Other employees may feel the exact opposite: they may crave for more involvement. As a manager, you need to recognise what each of your employees is comfortable with doing. However, everyone within the company needs to feel involved to some extent. It will enable each individual to feel indispensable and recognised.

4. Acknowledge Your Staff

This said you need to praise the contribution of each individual. Without any recognition or rewards, your employees’ motivation will decrease rapidly. Even worse, providing negative feedback can damage your staff’s self-esteem. Instead of stating what your employee has done wrong, express what areas need improvement. In essence, you should provide positive and constructive feedback. Focusing on the negative will only have unfavourable results.

Therefore, acknowledging each of your employee’s contribution helps create unity among teams, departments, and entire organizations. In turn, this will promote your staff’s motivation, commitment, and loyalty to the company. Everyone will feel uplifted and encouraged to grow your business.

5. Create A Welcoming Environment

Another way to promote well-being within the workplace consists of providing your staff with a friendly environment where they can develop a sense of belonging and purpose. Ultimately, it means surrounding your team with inspiration, beautiful designs, comfortable furniture, and tons of light. Here are a few things to keep in mind when setting up an ideal workplace that can facilitate workflow:

Space Customisation

Allow your employees to express themselves freely. Allow them to personalise their workspace with various decorative elements such as books, maps, and photographs. This will help them make their office feel more familiar and welcoming.

Ample and Bright Spaces

Ventilated rooms with high ceilings and large windows help individuals maintain their positivity. Unlike artificial light, natural light keeps headaches away, uplifts the environment, provides the feeling of a spacious and welcoming place.

A Whiteboard Space

Setting up an office space with a board is a great way to stimulate teamwork and facilitate meetings. Employees will feel motivated to get up and use the board to make their thoughts visible.

Relaxation Area

A comfortable relaxation area is ideal for coffee breaks and for having a chat with other members of staff. Having a table and a few chairs will stimulate communication (whether it concerns work or personal matters). Short and frequent brakes help our brains recover energy and make fewer mistakes.
