In an UK industry first, totaljobs.com announces it has built a new search algorithm into the website to improve the quality of relevant results for candidates. The new algorithm, Stepmatch, continually learns and evolves to improve job matching on site. Stepmatch combines computational linguistics, where computer science techniques analyse and synthesise language and speech, and assistive technologies to improve search results. The technology allows for contextual searches that closely match job titles with keywords. This helps eliminate common reasons for mismatching, for example, confusing the job title ‘Cook’ with the surname ‘Cook’.
Following a successful pilot, which saw applications increase by 4.09 per cent to 10.95 per cent depending on sector, Stepmatch has been seamlessly integrated into the existing totaljobs.com website. The algorithm is also supported by a team of dedicated search professionals to tailor its features to suit every vertical market, providing enhanced matching.
