It’s no secret that the gender gap in the technology is incredibly high and there are no signs of it closing any time soon. As technology keeps evolving, it is crucial for many reasons that we encourage more women into starting or returning to careers in the technology sector. WomeninTech is a site dedicated to help women to start a career in technology and to inspire those already in the sector.
The nominations for the 2019 Women in Tech Employer Awards are now open. The aim of the awards is to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary and much-needed work that these companies and individuals are doing to help close the gender gap in technology.
The categories for the awards are as follows: Female Tech Employer of the Year, Female Graduate Employer of the Year, Women in Tech Network of the Year, Recruitment Campaign of the Year, Recruitment Agency of the Year, Women in Tech Initiative of the Year and Women in Tech Role Model of the Year.
The nominations close on the 26th April 2019 and the winners will be announces in May 2019. The winners from the 2018 awards include: Sparta Global, Thoughtworks, STEM Women, Salt Search Ltd and CA Technologies.
Charlotte Attwood, Digital Marketing Manager at Women in Tech believes a lot more companies in the technology sector are working harder to close the gender gap.
“While there is still a long way to go to close the gender gap in the UK technology sector, there are a number of companies and individuals who are leading the way in encouraging women to enter the industry. It is essential that the UK does not lag behind its competitors in the tech sector.”
